ALI’S STORY OF FINDING ASYLUM (VIDEO)

The first stage of Australia21’s project on asylum seeker policy comprised a collection of essays by 23 notable Australians. The publication will be launched by Sir William Deane AC on 17 December 2013 in Canberra.

Australia21 raised funds to publish the essays through crowdfunding using the Pozible platform. As part of the awareness raising campaign associated with stage one, Australia21 director Deb Lavis and Australia 21 Honorary Youth Adviser, Tom Merrett, created Ali’s Story – a video which tells the story of one refugee who came to Australia as an asylum seeker.

There is a wide view in the community that we can manage this issue more effectively and more humanely than we are doing at present. With the help of some of our country’s leading thinkers Australia21’s work aims to identify options better way.

Following the launch of the essays we plan to move to stage two of the project which production of a discussion paper to inform stage three which would be a roundtable of experts to discuss policy options.
