Development of an Ecosystems Services Strategy for Australia
Required Resources
International experience indicates that the complex and challenging nature of key elements of the strategy will require concerted effort over a 2-3 year timeframe. To accelerate progress it will be essential to appoint a full time, dedicated project team with deep subject experience and very strong conceptual and interpersonal skills. The costs of this Australia 21 project during 2007 and 2008 which will include extensive consultation with experts and other key stakeholders, the conduct of Roundtable discussions and the production of discussion papers for various stakeholder groups is expected to be $500,000 in each of the next two years. Funds are being sought for this purpose from both the private and the public sectors.
